Heavy vehicle training is intended for drivers of larger commercial vehicles, typically tandem axle.
Courses are two-days in length. The first day the drivers attend lectures which include: Fundamentals of Driving, Engine Brake Management, Air Brake Refresher, and Hours of Service Refresher.
Classes are divided into groups of no more than 2. Each group works with an instructor in each of 4 practical modules:
Tight Access Manoeuvring
Emergency Procedures
Skid Recognition, Correction & Avoidance
Hazard Awareness
Driver performance is scored on Practical Skills Summary form and rated as Safe, Needs Improvement or Unsafe in each of the 4 competencies. For corporate customers, the results and student records are available on-line.
Properly understood and applied, the skills taught at a CTEC course WILL reduce, if not eliminate, motor vehicle incidents!
Courses are booked either corporately or on "open dates".
